embracing my shake.

FEB. 19, 2021

for most of my life, i have let fear reign. no matter the amount of love that came my way, i denied that positive reinforcement. the first day of college my freshman year brought me face to face with a rude awakening that, should i choose to continue letting fear control my behavior, i would fail in every facet of life. eventually, through a strict self-inflicted process of tough love, i learned to turn that fear into benefit. embracing what used to be the looming cloud over my head, i have learned to turn fear into a thought process of realism and expectation. merging my boundless imagination with a previously fearful mindset, i can now face most every situation with a realistic preparation while still hoping for the best.

2020 send off.

Mar. 14, 2021

with age comes a growing appreciation for the people who raise you: the parents.

I spent my 2020 New Years tucked away in a small home in the woods with myself and my parents. alone, i crafted, created, and cooked a four course dinner date for my mother and father. no recipes, just me, my imagination, the food, and the kitchen. all from scratch, all with love.

Course 1: shaved vegetable salad, honey whipped goat cheese, toasted chili pistachios, crispy shaved fingerling potatoes
Course 2: butternut squash ravioli in brown butter sage
Course 3: poached red snapper, avocado tostone, chive butter
Course 4: French Apple tart á la mode

the birds on lovers?

Mar. 15, 2021

the intersection of Lovers Ln. and Greenville Ave. beholds an ongoing phenomenon each day at approximately 3:30pm. hundreds of birds flood the intersection like a middle school hangout. it is absolutely bizarre. this photo doesn’t do justice.

success.

Mar. 15, 2021

some snapshots from the inaugural Fillet For Friends pop-up shop at the legendary Nomad Surf Shop in Boynton Beach, FL. this 501(c)(3) i run alongside 4 other young men has become a huge part of my life, representing gratitude, leadership, and growth. our mission is to mitigate hunger in Florida communities through the process of collecting, filleting, and donating surplus fish from our team and Florida anglers. as a grass roots agency, our team of executives focuses on our own position’s tasks, but all collaborate and take on projects outside of the job description. as the Chief Operating Officer, i also get the pleasure of leading all of the branding, merchandise design, and social media. these snapshots behold our new logo, poster, and merchandise all designed by myself and a graphic designer we brought on to help execute the ideas. the opportunity to be creative in a professional manner is an incredible pleasure, but one not nearly as rewarding as using creativity to actually help people.

17

mask me.

Apr. 24, 2021

it’s crazy to think how much masks have become an integral part of society. you’ll be watching a movie and, as the characters stroll through the airport, you’ll be thinking to yourself, “why aren’t they wearing masks?!”. and then it hits you.

anyways, here is a picture of one of my best friends who forgot a mask in an uber. great.

i have never considered myself to be a particularly talented “artist”. however, after i actually started trying to draw, i surprised myself. this is not to say i am picasso in the flesh, but these simple sketches continue to give me the confidence to at least identify as an artist.

19

the barn door.

apr. 24, 2021

i can thank my mother for my inherent creativity. she left a prestigious career in accounting because she found herself spending her lunch break rearranging the furniture around the Ernst and Young office. so she decided to take a leap of faith and start getting into interior design. later starting her own boutique and design firm, she comes up with unique, cost effective ways to make a house feel like home. her out of box thinking and attention to detail led her to filling a gap in our pool landscaping with a barn door she found on the side of the road. she had it repainted and voilá! the gap was filled.

22

budapest? more like budafresh.

apr. 24, 2021

my parents have been obsessed with showing my sister and i as much of the country, and world, for as long as i can remember. such immeasurable exposure to every walk of life has been an irreplaceable privilege to which i owe my ability to live and grow outside of the bubble myself and many other SMU students find themselves in.

for thanksgiving my freshman year of college, my family went and met my sister during her semester abroad in Budapest. the city had a limitless number of niche offerings, including the eclectic bar here in this photo. the bar had rooms with babydoll hanging from the sealing and even rooms with toilets as the seats. the artistic use of trash to bring treasure to the space was nothing short of inspiring. i loved it.

23

let there be light.

apr. 25, 2021

i find there to be few things more appealing than natural light. the glow and opening makes it near impossible to sulk. i hate dark rooms. they make me sad most of the time.

24

the wall.

apr. 25, 2021

i needed to find a cheap way to fill the space above my desk in my apartment this year.

so i chose posters that i connected with. blue hues and outdoors. a tear for if i’m sad. nonetheless, it makes doing work a little more enjoyable when you have something nice to look at. i even put one of my own pieces up there (jaws).

25

missing home.

partly cloudy.

apr. 25, 2021

on the drive to phi delta theta away weekend in Austin, i looked out the window to find something fascinating. and it was this cloud. it was literally floating completely isolated from the rest of the clouds that were all smooshed together.

i somehow resonated with this cloud.

28

who stopped the rain?

apr. 25, 2021

almost exactly one year ago i made it 13.1 miles on foot without stopping. the half marathon has been a long desired endeavor of mine and i finally did it. after months of training, i was able to complete the half marathon through sunshine and run.

i took this photo at about mile 7 when the Florida sunshine took is predictable turn towards torrential downpour. it lasted about 20 minutes and left me with what felt like wet bricks instead of sneakers for the remaining 4 miles of my run. but i did it.

also love this photo because it’s usually so hard to capture rain drops in an image. so cool and fun.
